chaye khana in urdu can be translated roughly into a 'tea cafe' except that in Karachi it does not necessarily mean a built space with tables and chairs or cookies and cakes. These kettles hang from a hawker's stall on the street. people gather around this stall for a dose of caffeine- some stand, some settle on the floor others on the sidewalk. so this informal gathering on the street becomes a 'chaye khana'
That's an interesting piece of local information. The tea pots are colorful and very well used.
